New Board Members Elected
NCSPRA members have elected Shayla Cannady, Jada Jonas, and Dr. Lindsay Whitley to serve two-year terms on the NCSPRA Board of Directors.
Cannady is the Chief Communications Officers for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and a first-time member of the NCSPRA Board of Directors. Jonas is the Public Information Officer for Iredell-Statesville Schools and is returning to the board to serve a full two-year term after being appointed to fill an unexpired term. Dr. Whitley is Associate Superintendent of Communications and Community Engagement for Cumberland County Schools and has served previously as a member of the NCSPRA Board of Directors.
Cannady, Jonas, and Whitley will begin their new terms on the NCSPRA Board of Directors on June 1, 2023 and will serve through May 31, 2025.
NCSPRA members also elected a slate of officers to a one-year term. Dr. Stacia Harris of Buncombe County Schools was elected to serve as NCSPRA President beginning June 1, 2023. She has previously served as NCSPRA Vice President. NCSPRA's current Treasurer, Valerie Newton of Sampson County Schools, was elected to the role of Vice President. Wanda Edwards of Guilford County Schools was re-elected to another one-year term as Secretary, and Brent Campbell of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools was elected to serve as NCSPRA Treasurer.
