NCSPRA announces Board of Directors changes

The North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) has announced changes to its Board of Directors. Molly McGowan Gorsuch (Henderson County Schools) and Brent Campbell (Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools) have been appointed to serve in new roles on the board.

The NCSPRA Board of Directors unanimously approved Molly McGowan Gorsuch to fill the State Coordinator's position on the NCSPRA board. The NCSPRA State Coordinator helps connect NCSPRA with other state education and public relations organizations across North Carolina. The position is nominated by the NCSPRA president and approved by the Board of Directors. Kevin Smith had previously served as NCSPRA's State Coordinator. He recently resigned after accepting a new job outside of K-12 public education.

Molly McGowan Gorsuch had been serving on the NCSPRA Board of Directors since June 1, 2021. NCSPRA members had elected her in May to serve a two-year term. However, because of this new appointment, she will move from her elected position on the board to the appointed State Coordinator's role. The State Coordinator position is typically appointed for a one-year term. However, to help NCSPRA maintain continuity in this important position, the NCSPRA Board of Directors voted unanimously to allow McGowan Gorsuch to continue serving as State Coordinator for the upcoming 2022-2023 term at the president's and vice-president's request.

The Board of Directors also unanimously approved Brent Campbell to fill the remainder of Molly McGowan Gorsuch's unexpired 2021-2023 term on the NCSPRA board. Campbell is an active NCSPRA member and ran for a seat on the NCSPRA board this past May. More information about Brent Campbell is available here.
